i think you might be mistaking liberal politicians, who most certainly *do* have agendas, just like their conservative bretheren, with political cartoonists.

i challenge you to draw a political cartoon about Rice in which you can make her being the youngest college provost into something amusing or pithy.

I don't think Condi Rice is overly intelligent. I have listened to LONG speeches of hers, and she doesn't really have a spark of brilliance at all. She did get through college, and taught, and is not a stupid woman, by any means. She is competent. But I think she is way underqualified to be secretary of state. She herself has said that she is not very diplomatic, and the state department is about diplomacy. In fact, her thinking is rigid and her field of specialization was the COLD WAR Soviet Union period. Things have changed a lot in the international arena since then.

None of this has anything at all to do with her being black, incidentally. It is not racist to simply give your opinion of someone's potential or experience.
