I have seen several sites disintegrate over this X-phenomenon me too which is why i ignore her and refrain from posting about her let's just talk about something else

I have read X's original post several times and there is nothing in it that is a personal attack on anyone that I can see. She is discussing some scientific evidence on homosexuality, remarking quite accurately that this subject has been tossed around for quite a long time at SI, and stating that she does not think an argument about the connection between child molestation and homosexuality is relevant. She is talking about ideas, not personalities. I have known X for a very long time, and have disagreed with her before sometimes. No one agrees on every subject, but X talks about a WIDE VARIETY of interesting things, which makes her a valuable commodity around here. I get really, really bored with the black and white, not very intelligent sniping game about politics between the left and right which seems to absorb the entire lives of some of the personalities hanging out, and is not even well articulated or spelled correctly. If I wanted Sean Hannity-type energy in my brain several hours a day I would just go watch him on tv. But I don't because I don't think he is very intelligent, and he is BORING. If you want to cite the "veiled third party very personal snipe that X offered" I would be willing to review my opinion. I think there are lots of wounded souls kicking around, and everyone seems very sensitive, perhaps overly so. That is why we are not just going to rehash old insults/battles/personal attacks any longer at Feelies, and we are going to give everyone including X a chance to be civil. I am a very independent thinker, and calling me a rube is not a way to change my opinion. I don't really understand why people who want to hang out with Laz just don't go do so, instead of reading posts that seem offensive. Perhaps some people don't have that much to occupy their time, but I do, and I would prefer to read about a variety of ideas, reasonably well expressed, and catch some elegant writing as well, which I find very pleasurable.
