"I honestly have not studied the passage in depth so I would have to look at the context before I could give a reasoned answer. What on earth would need to be studied "in depth" to realize that needless evil was perpetrated against those women by Moses ordering the slaughter of innocent women and the rest to be kept alive for the pleasure of his army. No "reasoned answer" can be provided by you that will justify that slaughter or bring those dead back to life.
