Mish, in this electronic age, one does not need me to teach Chinese<g>. Web sites, software are better teachers<g>. Here are some sites where you can download some software to learn Chinese<g>. And if you want to learn it in person, I recommend find someone from Beijing, or anyone can speak decent PuTongHua. And learning HanYuPinYin (use same 26 letters as in English although the pronunciation is dif.) at the same time will make learning Chinese much easier. People from Taiwan do not use English-letter style HanYuPinYin. Don’t just learn Cantonese since the majority of Chinese do not understand it. I don’t understand except a couple of words.

Some “learn to speak” Chinese software download site
finaldownload.com
softaward.com

This is a Chinese site, but all you need to do is to click on the hyperlink on left hand side (the ones from the bottom of the page), there are a dozen dif. sites where you can download “Learn Chinese 4.02”
dadui.com

Here are some other sites may help.

wku.edu

mylanguageexchange.com

csulb.edu
