I saw this commercial in full last night. How could ABC be so stupid?

ABC's Towelgate Strikes Racial Chord for Many
By Molotov - Booker Rising

Flooded with angry calls, ABC apologized on Tuesday. The NFL called the opening skit to Monday Night Football “unsuitable.” Michael Powell, the FCC chair, threatens fines. However, we ain't the only ones who argue that race underlies much of the uproar. Judging by Black Entertainment Television feedback, others do too - like Tony Dungy, a black NFL coach. “No. 1, I think it was racial. I think it was stereotypical looking at the players on the heels of the Kobe Bryant incident. I think it was very insensitive."

Some BET forum users say it has nothing to do with race. Others assert that many white men and black women would be upset. Some black men would find their portrayal troublesome?

Take a look at the lips.

I did. I understand your point but I think it's off base. She's a parrot. A parrot is a bird. Birds have beaks. Parrots have big beaks. If you were caricaturing a white woman as a parrot, what would you do differently? Especially if she had big teeth? You'd put lips and teeth on the end of the beak and they'd look oversized. Caricatures exaggerate.
