Of course our tribalistic instincts remain in tact. If there is anything I believe in, it is in instincts above all else, but not in the simplistic way it is often portrayed. My instinct is to want the best for my "tribe" and to satisfy this instinct I've studied and concluded that my tribe is best served by a more level playing field and through non-violent means. As I said, the evolution of society from nomadic marauding hordes into modern nations is evidence that choosing the rule of law over the might is right mentality is the best way to serve one's tribe. You don't see any of the victorious Mongol hordes or Arab Bedouins ruling the world, do you? In other words, even if your tribe is on the top now, if it does not change its tribal ways, it will die off.

No it does not. That is the thing about ethics. They are objective, as oppose to the subjective measures of custom, tradition, and morality.
