China: (OCt 2004) China's oil giant Sinopec Group has signed a US$70 billion oil and natural gas agreement with Iran, which is China's biggest energy deal with the No. 2 OPEC producer.

Japan: (Spring 2004) Japan and Iran have signed a basic agreement for a Japanese consortium to develop a major oil field in southwestern Iran, Japanese media reports say. The reports Thursday said the deal grants the consortium full development rights to the Azadegan oil field, which has estimated reserves of about 26 billion barrels and is believed to be one of the largest in the Middle East. cnn.com
