My father used to say that in the last century Democrats started wars and Republicans finished them. He was not entirely wrong. A liberal with the mindset of peace can get a country into war faster than a hawk. It is not until there is a hawk with conservative credentials is in control that enemies give us respect. Those who are respected can win or disengage with honor. Peacenicks retreat without respect. Enemies kick the fleeing dog. The dog who commands respect is not attacked as it departs.
