No, I didn't read the new Fielding book. I enjoyed the Bridget Jones book, however. My daughter also likes light girly fiction sometimes--she finds it a relief from studying. So I am sure it will show up on our family coffee table, which has lost most of its function except as a place to stack unread books until I begin feeling really guilty, and then shut the door and vow not to even enter the room.

This is all quite silly, of course. What I am not sure about is why I keep buying more books when I am so far behind on reading the ones I already own. They are not like loaves of fresh sourdough bread or anything, with a shelf life of only a few hours. I know rationally that I will be able to buy them later. But I cannot resist somehow.

Did you read The Time Traveler's Wife? A friend loaned it to me because she couldn't get into it, not a very strong recommendation. And yet some people have loved this book.
