Jewel was banned because of personal attacks and name calling, having absolutely nothing to do with any post to you. I consider it a failure when someone is banned. I did warn him first. I don't want to rehash this endlessly; if you are curious you can go back and read the posts that led to the ban.

I think at least 80% of the posters at Feelies represent some flank of the right wing, and bans have absolutely nothing to do with anyone's political opinions.

I have stated in several posts over the last couple of weeks that anyone is welcome here as long as they don't become personally vicious. I think it is possible to present any opinion without writing nasty, personally hurtful posts, or trying to stir up trouble from feuds of the past. I also think it is very weird to even have the concept of banning someone as an available option, but I have seen so many threads disintegrate, and so many really ugly wars start at SI, that unfortunately it seems necessary to maintain general civility.

Anyone can start a thread and then they can ban anyone or everyone from their own thread, and I encourage people to do that if they would like. I certainly derive no pleasure from this. I do promise to be fair.
