The ETF response has been stunning with another $488 m added just so far. That's 610,000 more oz above the initial offering, a whopping 19 tonnes of gold. I think even the optimists thought it would take several months for this to transpire. As most of you know, mine supply is under 2600 tonnes a year, and then you have 400 more from foolish CBs who would rather hold treasury notes. This could be a real wake up call to the money printers and sycophants like Alan Greenspan.

You were right. CEF premium evaporating.

Silver isn't showing it's hand yet though and no big loss for CEF. Still safer than a Fannie Mae backed money market. <ng

They are buying gold in an allocated account, but is the trust using a "fractional reserve" system?

Shares cannot be created without the appropriate amount of gold first being delivered to the trustee to effect the “creation”. The initial amount of gold required by the Trust to create a basket of 100,000 shares is 10,000 ounces (1/10 of an ounce of gold per Gold Share). The gold that underlies Gold Shares is held in the form of allocated 400 oz.
