Pre trial discovery would be lots of fun if it did go forward, though.

He's a lawyer, he's got to know that his entire military record would be an open book, as would his anti-war activities afterwards.

He's also got to know that under the NYTimes vs. Sullivan standard, unless he can prove that the book contains knowing and malicious falsehoods, he can't prevail.

I simply do not believe the rumors about a potential suit. It makes zero sense.

Well, there is one possibility -- pre-trial discovery of who funded the Swifties could potentially damage big name Republicans, if there were any behind O'Neill. O'Neill says no, and I believe him, so I discount this possibility.
