Boston is no more racist than any other big city IMO. You obviously didn't spend much time in East Boston, Charlestown, South Boston or the North End. Two of my female friends moved into a North End apartment some years ago. They were visited by a small group of neighbors, who laid down the rules. Among them, (1) don't date our boys, and (2) don't bring any blacks into the neighborhood. Follow the rules, and you'll get along just fine. These people meant it.

Racism works two ways. Whites hating blacks gets more print than blacks hating whites, but the body count is the opposite.

disturbed the delicate racial balance of the city starting in the 1970s. There was no racial balance in Boston to disturb in the 70s. There was only racial imbalance. The busing proved that. The busing made the racial imbalance newsworthy. I find it quite humorous that liberal politicians forced liberals to integrate. Forcing liberals to integrate is their worst nightmare. Want to test that? Try dropping 30 busloads of black ghetto kids off at Dupont Circle everyday all summer long, and see how the community reacts. Even better, try forcing the residents of Dupont Circle to provide 30 busloads of white kids to bus to the ghettos everyday to integrate them. Hey, try it in your neighborhood too. All the while the liberal politician kids were going to lily white private schools in Milton, Newton and other lily white communities. The Catholic Christian Brothers School was built in West Roxbury in the late 50s to protect the lily white catholic community along Center St and Lagrange St. It provided a lily white affordable experience for the kids who went to 1-8 grade at ST Theresa and Holy Name Church Schools. It was not really needed then. I guess the sponsors, the Kennedys, knew what was coming. I attended a graduation there in the late 60s (68 or 69). There was not a single black in the class. And I was told there were none at Roxbury Latin, the oldest school in America, just up the street. I already had 7 years on active duty and four overseas and just didn't get it. I had a lot of questions that never got answered. Nearby Roslindale Public HS was also all practically white then. It began to integrate to a small degree later with the construction of a democrat politician sponsored great society housing project nearby off Washington St. Boston, the center of the universe for liberal Democrats, may earn the honor of being the last place on earth to integrate. But the race is close with our nation's capital.
