I wonder if they're rolling DEC Futures into physical? Huge OI in DEC's (approx 250,000 contracts, about 25m ounces), which is almost unprecedented with few days left in options calendar. I know GLD can short-sell and use options but I think the avg investor does not know this.

I woudn't be surprised if they IPO'd with a combination of physical and futures, and decided to set the IPO date a few days before the DEC expy, to be able to use Futures to fill positions.

Specialist firms are fighting over who gets the rights already!! Be interesting to see what Vol they start them trading at. I wouldn't want to have a market order to buy an option on the first trading day!
