Don't you think that the politics of archaeology is just as interesting as the actual finds? There were some great programs on the BBC involving archaeology. One of my favorites was the program where this crack team would go in to projects- and they only had 3 days to figure things out. It was fascinating. The last episode was about a property that had a purported Roman Villa on it- but when they started digging they found all sorts of misleading bits and pieces, and it was in a low lying swampy area, and FINALLY at the end of the show, they decided that rather than being a villa, as the victorian over had assumed, what they really had was a folly, built with bits and pieces of imported Roman crockery, over the real foundations of a Roman bath. It was just so much fun to watch. Mystery meets history.
