It's the same reason NOW said nary a word when Bill Clinton made his public denials of a liasion with Monica:
I did not have sex with that woman.

As a woman, and a lawyer who has both prosecuted and
defended sexual harassment cases, I was really struck by that comment and the way it was delivered.

I immediately concluded two things:
1. He was lying.
2. He had very bad legal advice.

That NOW was so quiet during that entire debacle was telling.

Now, Monica was obviously not black, but the whole affair
struck me as a slap in the face to women.

NOW's silence was deafening and defining.

The jabs at Rice are of the same ilk.
The icing on the cake for the left is that she
is also black.

The underlying message is that women don't get anywhere
at the higher echelons unless they play along.

It disgusts me.

And that transcends the racial angle which, as I say,
is merely another level but not the true issue.

You think Oliphant's drawing of Rice is racist. I think it's simply left wing dislike. (Although I suspect Olliphant has managed to make it personal in the case of Bush and Rice because he doesn't draw them nearly as well as he does other folk. He loses it.)

But as I said it's political and personal. Here is the left wing black version, which is racist and sexist:

They play the sexist race card and say she's an Auntie Thomasina because she, like the other black folk in Bush's cabinet, doesn't subscribe to socialist nonsense.

This, on the other hand, is merely racist:

I looked for political cartoons of Madeleine Albright but they seem to have dropped off the web. What I could find certainly was not flattering. I didn't bother to check ME websites....
