Dave, "Observe your dog next time he greets another dog. Does he blow in the other dog's face? If not, then what does he do?"
They sniff the other dog, and the other dog(s) sniff them. The canine handshake.

"Dogs are opportunists, like us humans. They are simply cruising for opportunities when they hang their head out the window of a car, sniffing for opportunities."
LOL!! I have always said dogs are consummate con artists. They have managed to get bigger and smarter creatures to cheerfully provide them with food and shelter, which is something we humans have not managed to do with nearly that degree of expertise.

"I agree, many people do not listen to their dogs--but I do."
Sadly, many do not. Their loss and the dog's loss. - Holly
