<and being a pompous ass is not in poor taste?> We have plenty of elected and appointed individuals who have shown themselves capable of acting in poor taste -- using your definition. My stand is entirely reasonable: The odds of the US succeeding in remaking the middle east by acting alone via invasive military action are close to nil. You, instead, watch battle by battle and expect the tide to turn in our favor at any moment -- giving odds of 50/50 to our success. This sort of wildly optimistic hubris on your part inclines people to forget the grand stupidity of our foreign policy. We doomed our own mission by the means we used to accomplish it. We then had to suffer fools who jumped to defend these means by referring to glorious and equally ludicrous ends that we would supposedly achieve by our invasion. We had choices -- we made bad ones -- and our young men and women, and the women and children of the middle east, pay the consequences.
