The darn surgery put a dent in the progress but the work begins again after Thanksgiving. The back injury will preclude jumping again, but I can still hump. Maybe we are nuts too?

I think they will take us old farts before the draft. I have a picture in front of me of the only "old Fart" out there. It is Billy Waugh; standing on an Afghan mountaintop in 2001 at the age of 72! He was still "operating" as a CIA contractor. Made me shake my head. I am halfway though his book, "Hunting the Jackal." Looks like he had more fun as a CIA contractor for 30 years after he retired from SF in '72.

It was there or Georgetown to hook up. Not sure what you mean by "hook up" but there appears to be a lot of "hooking up" in Dupont Circle, of all varieties, gay, straight, and everything in between. ;^) Good restaurants, good bookstores, good shoe stores, nice boutiques, but I don't recall seeing any children. But I stand by my larger point. The DC metro area is well known these days for being racially integrated with few problems, especially Fairfax (where I live) and Arlington (where Kholt lives). There are black areas where whites don't live, but no white areas where blacks don't live.
