LATAM China US

LATAM governing elites always ressented the economic might of the US. At times (or most of the times) LATAM governing elites worked against the interestes of their own countries just to tumble their nose at the US. Like joining the Non Aligned Movement Supporting Castro, sabotaging the JFK 'Alliance for the Progress' and courting the Europeans.

But at times military 'gorillas', trained in the US during the Cold War and dictators always in the end accommodate to the US might.

After the Cold War ended, there's a new ball game. Slowly the script is playing on. Governing elites of the US love to seek a South-South axis, its been tried before. Before the critical mass wasn't there. Now with China there is.
The center of gravity will change.

China can be as mighty as they possibly be, but they are too far away and too dependent to fright LATAM.

The US was too close and to independent.
