It's about where we put our money, and how we prioritize. How many billions are we up to in Iraq? Is it over 200 billion yet? That's a lot of libraries in the US- might even do some good for cancer research with that, or feed the hungry, or build more schools- with up to date facilities.

Coug's point was well made. When it comes down to it, there ARE choices about whether to buy books or bombs. Whether to invade a country, or pay for pressing needs at home.
