The resistance in Iraq is getting more recruits and it is getting better organized. There was a window of opportunity right after the invasion, but that was blown by poor planning. To be fair, I'm nor sure we could have done much with Iraq even if we had had a good plan, and even if we had exploited that window of opportunity perfectly- there just isn't any tradition for doing the kind of values transplant our government hoped to do, and there is too much bad feeling against the US in the Arab world generally (of course there is a lot more ill feeling now.)
