Perhaps you can provide Faber's quote saying the money supply is shrinking. I'll have a chuckle and send him a note.

I think it's more likely Faber was referring to the declining rate of change in the money supply, which can be predictive of a down-turn. Sometimes people are not careful in their wording and can end up not saying exactly what they meant - it's common to everyone.

Don't forget that Faber is Swiss and thus English is not his first language, perhaps not even his third language. My Swiss relatives occasionally make smirk-worthy comments when speaking in English. When I speak French my periodic misuse of the language can be downright hilarious.

Post the whole paragraph or so where he says the money supply is declining and we'll all comment.
