Kerry did did accomplish one positive thing with his candidacy.

Kerry (and the Swiftees) provided an open forum in which America came to comprehend the root of their misgivings and misinformation about Nam. Armed with that knowledge we have been able to put that war to bed and more importantly, recover the Honor of the 58,000 Americans who died fighting it.

Much is being said and written about how this is a moral victory for GWB. I don't have that view.

Kerry attempted to report for duty, but was rejected. America did indeed find him Unfit For Command. I don't see it as a victory so much as a simple reassertion of the majority's personal standards of integrity and honor.

Kerry's life is steeped in false charges, false claims, running from danger and immorality. He lives high off widows' pensions.

This was the dismissal of a phony and a cad. End of story.

Our Nation's resilience is remarkable. With the lingering questions about Nam fully resolved publicly and the honor of the Vets who served there restored, we can and are focusing on the present and future. Notice how quickly, the nation has made that transition. Vietnam is completely out of the limelight now as it should be.

I see a great tide of support for the troops building now. It began prior to the election. But now, with the dismissal of Kerry, it is really building. And what a wonderful sight it is.

Our national pride is being restored. Our attempts to secure our own liberties by gifting them to oppressed people is better understood and more importantly is winning support here at home. We are positioning ourselves to win abroad.

I am glad John Kerry saluted America on the eve of his nomination. It forced us to address and resolve some long-festering issues.

I am thrilled that America did not return the salute.
