What you are saying is, let's ignore all the ways in which Iran has threatened Israel rhetorically as deserving annihilation, and let's ignore all the ways in which Iran has funded and is funding attacks on Israel, let's just stop and concentrate on how Iran might legitimately feel threatened by some of Israel's responses to the Iranian threats and attacks?

No, I am not saying that.

Its funny you should use this line of thinking after I brought up America's history with Iran. Are you expecting the Iranians to moderate and become a peace-lovin' burger-eatin' people overnight, too?

Should they just forget and ignore the non-rhetorical but actual US complicity in bringing the Shaw back to power; in supporting Savak secret police; in tacitly endorsing decades of oppression and torture against dissidents; in shooting down a civilian airliner; in using embargos and sanctions?

No matter how wrong the attacks on Israel through non-state actors have been, you have another people who feel equally wronged, and now, their backs are being pushed -- very hard -- against the wall.

What, I wonder, would you expect them to do, given the past history?

Myself? I expect that they will call Israel and US bluffs and try to complete and test a weapon. Whether I like that outcome or not is irrelevant, I am simply repeating, consistently, that I will not be surprised.

Now, if such an outcome given the current state of affairs is all but certain, then what can be done to change this?

1. Attack them and hope the hell that they are not already there, and that you get the attacks right, or,

2. Find a diplomatic way of bringing peace to the region.

All I hear from you is one side, and somehow I suspect your side will win the argument and an attack will happen. The result of this, I fear, will be massive retaliation of some sort against Israel whether one IDF soldier or pilot takes place in the attack or not.

That's not an outcome I want to see happen but given what I sense is your desire (attack ** NOW **) I think its the most logical outcome.
