Taikun, the National Post turns my stomach; if they had their way Canada would be a US possession like Puerto Rico. The current editor of the National Post guaranteed us that second hand cigarette smoke has no effect on health. Anyway the article you quoted talks ominously of the decline of real GNP growth to 1.7%. Hey, 1.7% compounded for 20 years gives us a 40% real increase. That's not so bad, eh? Even suppose that the population increases by 10% in those two decades, we still have a real increase of per capita income of 27%. We don't march off to wars precipitated by lying reports to the UN. Could be worse. As for the provinces, I don't know the situation in BC but I do know that taxes in Ontario were lowered by the Conservatives when they were in power, as a result of which we had larger class sizes in the schools longer waits for operations, polluted drinking water etc. but the rich were happy; that's all that matters to the Conservatives.
