I have to confess that I'm no goldbug but I do think now is not the time to be selling gold.

On the other hand, it does seem that the position of the CBs is different from that of the ordinary individual. What I mean is that if the gold price appreciates considerably as result of currency uncertainties, the European currencies, likewise, will also be revalued and to levels which may not suit the various economies. In other words, an excessive gold holding will limit currency "flexibility".
