But none of this stops us from looking for alternate means of deterrence or other more seemingly bizarre solutions. Would you object to a secret contact being made between US and Bin Laden taking wmds off the table for both sides? I suspect in other wars, things were done akin to that. I got this idea while watching The Wire on HBO and discovering that there might be a drug gang thing in place not to do hits on sunday. It's a TV show but it got me to thinking. The use of nukes and bio weapons take us beyond other forms of warfare because either whole swaths of countried become uninhabitable almost forever or whole swaths of populations cease to exist. The Saudis seem to have some sort of deal in place with al quaeda. MIke
