DJ Sirius CFO: Co Soon To Hit 800,000 Subscribers >SIRI

NEW YORK (Dow Jones)--David Frear, chief financial officer of Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. (SIRI), said the company will soon reach 800,000 subscribers.

The company, which offers a subscription-based satellite radio system to deliver news and music to homes and vehicles, has said it expects to have 1 million subscribers by the end of 2004.

In a CNBC interview Monday, Frear said that analysts expect the overall satellite radio market, which includes rival XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc. (XMSR), could have at least 40 million to 50 million subscribers in the next five years.

Frear added, however, that he believes the market has a "good way to run beyond that."
