I have lived in too many countries with mutual rock-throwing contests - all it leads to is blood everywhere. Now that I live ten minutes from South Africa, a country that gave up its wingers and settled down to build a new nation, I am reminded even more how sterile and useless American politics have become.

I agree that the leftwingers don't have nearly the same sway as the right. But if all they aspire to is finding the lefty Paul Wolfowitz to lead their crusade, I am not interested in the least.

No one walks away from a pissing match smelling like anything except human waste.

"If someone throws a rock and you, you've got to throw a bigger rock back at him, otherwise there is no effective opposition and everything turns to sh**, as we are currently seeing."

Of course then, in the quest to win, you've turned in to the same kind of mud wallowing dreck lover the other guy was. It's the old mud wrestling with a pig problem. Hey, maybe the pigs will rule the planet- because I sure don't want to become a pig to try to stop them.
