Actually, the Alberta Alliance has a number of rather radical things in its policy book, some of which will be hard to sell. I'm quite disappointed in their platform, which includes all kinds of irresponsible spending. There are some fiscal conservative elements, but they are overshadowed by populist welfare state policies such as free tuition for post secondary eduction and regulated insurance rates.

I think we'll have to wait until Randy Thorsteinson is replaced as head of the Alliance before deciding wether the party will evolve into a right-wing republican-style party or a libertarian centrist party. I'm hoping for the latter.

Well so far it looks like Ralph is getting what passes in Alberta for a butt kicking. Down a dozen or so seats. Well deserved, although I hope Kevin Taft doesn't take it as an affirmation.
