I don't think that morality really comes into play when it comes to putting food on the table, whether putting a couple of bucks in the grocer's hands or pulling the trigger of a gun, or pulling up a bunch of carrots out of the dirt.

To me though, I consider shooting a deer who has lived a life free in the wild, to be much more humane than the life of cattle who are go through the slaughterhouse experience. (ever drive by the stockyards along I5 just north of Coalinga?)
