"Human life is more precious than animal life and anyone who doesn't agree with that needs to spend some time under sedation at Happy Valley. "

That kind of says it all. Look, a person who doesn't agree with the above statement isn't crazy, any more than a Moony is crazy, or a Christian Scientist- it's about belief. Now you don't have to agree with their beliefs, but to call people crazy for them, when I'd be willing to bet you have your own beliefs that would be difficult to justify logically, is just dehumanizing too. You are attacking and dehumanizing someone who merely holds a belief different from yours, and it's a belief you really really don't like- and you don't like it so much you want to call the person crazy. So what does it accomplish if you do that? I just don't see the point. It looks to me like a bunch of people got bored, found a focal point for their restlessness, and really cut loose- it's not like this doesn't happen frequently- where a bunch of people suddenly show up at a thread to "hunt" someone down who has posted some statement, not aimed at the people who show up, but which is taken as a justification for a lot of ugly posting.

I don't buy it, and I don't like it, and there isn't any excuse for it, imo.

If a deer and a baby were drowning in a pond which would you jump in to save?

From the looks of some of the posts around SI today, the answer to that question would be another question.

"Is the baby the child of a Republican or a Democrat?"

Sacred cows
or
I gather you are not a Hindu

India's Constitution prohibits the killing of young healthy cattle. Many Hindu believers believe the cow is sacred and many follow the orthodox stricture to ensure the cow is fed before they can eat, they are the devout.

I don't believe this, there is no sacred cow that I would refuse to eat if I was starving. If I did feed the cow it would only be to make more beef.

Human life is more precious than animal life and anyone who doesn't agree with that needs to spend some time under sedation at Happy Valley.

The more I see of this place, the more I realize that this is indeed Happy Valley. And the inmates run it.

I can't believe the mental convolutions which have been made trying to justify and "understand" a statement which justified and indeed rejoiced in cold-blooded murders.

Anyway, like you, I will be banned shortly. At my specfic request. I thought this place could be one in which divergent points of view could be aired with civility. However, it is obvious that civility does not necessarily correlate positively with sanity.
