Air and Special Forces alone can wipe them out. But we can't hold the place.

You got it.

And an occupation requires boots on the ground a la WWll.

That was never and still is not our intent.

Bring em on as GW says. We can handle it.
But the security of Iraq was always planned to be and still is up to the Iraqis.

We are now the "Jetsons vs the Flintstones" in taking a country. Air and Special Forces alone can wipe them out. But we can't hold the place. I don't see us doing it, unless we really believe they will use or sell a bomb against us.>>

Thats true what you say.

It is not only the US that is reconsidering its Foreign relationships, it is also all the Arab leaders, bad or good.
There is OBL, now powerless .
Saddam with a powerful military and feared in the area. Now countryless and in prison after claiming we could not win and his people would fight to the death..

Then European Nations are sharing info on terrorists, tracking down what countries they came -countries that may possibly get the same treatment as Afghanistan did,

Incoming and outgoing tourists getting x-rayed, searched, fingerprinted. Imports pertaining to WMD's being monitored or stopped. Swiss bank accounts being investigated.

In summary, those Mullahs or leaders must be examining their past beliefs, in the power of men like Saddam, in their remoteness being a protection, in whether it is wise to lie like Saddam did or to keep recommending Jihads.

Like a Syrian terrorist
Going to Iraq
He might be OK leaving
But he wont be coming back
