You are trying to keep from them their right to protect animals. That is a competing right.

Let's put it in another perspective-
You want to have the right to chop the heads off dogs, with an axe. It's very humane the way you do it- the dog doesn't feel anything. On the other hand, there are people who feel that it is their right to protect dogs. They want to make laws against you chopping dogs heads off with your axe. They feel their right to protect dogs, trumps your right to kill them. You, obviously, feel differently (and you are eating the dog, using its hide, you're really not wasting anything). Who is right? In the abstract- Darned if I know. But there are competing rights here- just as there are with hunting. Some people believe they have a right, a duty, even (on the part of some) a religious command, to protect animals.

So, you are trying to change the rights of people who think like that, imo.
