I admire your high standard or morality when it comes to life. I share your belief that all life is precious -- too precious to destroy it unthinkingly. We draw the line at our threshold and poison mice and nuke basement insects from time to time but wish we had a more humane way, especially with the mice. Outside the house, we provide a favorite eating place for all the critters. We captured a distinctive red squirrel in the house three years ago, let it go, and (s)he still resides in our wooded backyard. I think our kids learn the most just from the examples we set.
