The "Blessings" thing is a pet peeve of mine. I once attended an evangelical Christian church where the Pastors talked about material wealth as if God had blessed him with it ( he threatened that God would take revenge on your children if you didn't pay tithes. ABSOLUTELY. It drives me crazy and as a result I prefer the "old" churches, many of which seem to be better grounded. If the rich are blessed then what does that make the poor?.......................a lesser person in God's eyes?..............I just hate that train of thought which is shared by many Americans. Too much "me" too little "we". And Canadians are not immune to "birthright" thinking either - we all have a stake in this, joined at the hip as we are by family ties and geography.
