Yes, at a remote arctic research station. The "Thing" had human form, but was actually an intelligent carrot. On his world, plants had evolved as the intelligent life form. Their food was the blood of animal life. The Thing came to earth to begin the colonization of the human race as a food source. A really cool and scary movie without all the contrived computer special effects.
