The only thing we have to indicate there was a shot fired is the word of a guy who piled up 6 bodies

If we are in the woods and you are rude, intimidating, and shoot at me and miss, you will soon have one very large problem...breathing.

And if you are out hunting and a shot goes off in your general direction to you assume someone is shooting at you? In a combat zone maybe that is a safe assumption. I don't think it is in the woods during hunting season.

If they were trying to kill him I doubt they would have all dropped their rifles and rushed to the scene. Once they did drop their rifles and move away from them he probably loses any self defense claim unless they got really close and showed signs of attacking him hand to hand. It would be esp. difficult to make a self defense claim if they don't have guns (anymore) and where running away (at least after the first one went down).

Edit - I do think we can't really come to any sort of conclusion until all the physical evidence is examined and the investigation is completed. You could have anything between legitimate self defense and multiple counts of cold-blooded murder.

Tim

uw -- all my firearms training stated to know your target & whats behind it. In SEA they only thing behind the target would be another target. I have NRA, state, and federal instructor certificates & the military gave me a nice award for profiency, LOL! I instructed hundreds of women in firarms safety and more hunter safety courses than I can remember. Every class stated 'know your target and what is behind it'! One thing all can be assured, of a projectile comes my way-- the 'shooter' can expect a well placed on in their direction. No excuse-- "bounced of a rock" NADA. Anyone that even thinks I do not know when a projectile comes in my direction will not get a chance to learn how as there will only be one in their direction! Not to brag-- but I do NOT miss.
