Jay,

Do you think other nations will eventually have to devalue to compete with US (think how cheap Boeing planes are vs Airbus with Euro at 150) or can other nations 'laser out' the US and continue along.

Of course, at some point Japan and China stop funding US debt and the music stops. But is it only for the US until the US rebalances the trade deficit? Is US inflation contained?

If we get DDEEU then there are safe havens in other equity markets and commodities remain a good play because the demand stays strong. This would also point towards currencies plays.

If dollar contagions spreads to other nations devaluing, do we not get DDEED. This would not include currency plays, commodities suffer (amid global malaise) and global equity markets suffer. Here US inflation spreads.

If DDEED doesn't that imply DDEEDGU (as gold may appreciate against other currencies as they weaken and are seen by all investors to not be a good store of value?

Which door is this again?
