Investigators Check For Link Between Hunter Slayings, '01 Killing

HAYWARD, Wis. -- Clark County sheriff's detectives are asking questions about the Sawyer County shooting deaths, trying to determine whether there's any connection to the unsolved murder of another deer hunter three years ago.

Jim Southworth was shot and killed on Nov. 23, 2001, as he hunted on family land 10 miles east of Neillsville.

Detective Kerry Kirn told a Milwaukee newspaper that he's been in contact with investigators in Sawyer County this week. But he says it's premature to say there's any connection.
