In deference to you, I am going to stop reminding mike-redneck-hills-90210 of his insignificant existence.

On a different note, now that the tape of child-murdering IDF is out, there is a PR campaign going on to show there is outrage in the military about this and it is not what usually happens. Which is rather doubtful given the founding founders of IDF like Raful Eitan.

A few years ago another tape surfaced that clearly showed IDF providing fire cover for armed settlers to engage Palestinian civilians. Officially, of course, IDF was there to maintain order. But clearly not if it meant using force on the settlers. Because of the international coverage that tape got, and because it was to blatantly obvious how IDF was there to cover the settlers, Israel held several hearings and allowed Palestinians to question the army. One of the Palestinian committee members asked the officer in charge "why did you not stop the settlers when you saw them shooting at the Palestinians?" His answer was simple and honest, "This army is made to protect the Israelis against outsiders, not the other way around". So the Palestinian asked the officer again, "So are you saying that if you see an armed settler going to kill an unarmed Palestinian, you cannot shoot him in the leg to prevent it?" Again he answered, "No I cannot. As I see the rules, they prevent me from doing so". After that Israel promised reforms, but seeing the deliberate murder of a 13 year old girl last night, clearly they did not deliver.

As was the case last time, I expect to see outrage over this injustice paraded in front of international TVs and for the business as usual to resume once all is quiet again. We have to wonder how many more incidences like this get swept under the carpet because no tape makes it to the public.
