I disagree.

There are a lot of lazy, greedy exporters around the world who have made a killing selling to those 'gluttons' when their own nation's people wouldn't eat their own dog food. Instead of developing their own markets these countries relied on the US, plying the US with cheap credit, all supported by their central banks. It has been easier to get a Home Loan in the US than in Canada or Japan.

Then, even as the US's credit rating dropped, they piled on more debt, hoping for more exports.

What? Do they act with impunity?

I think not.
