I left my purse--in Edinburrrraaa Deep in a City Taxi's seat It lies with little crumbs and dust Amid the garbage and the rust And hopes to sommmmmmeday be released. We won't be repeating the turkey flambé of last year, as Dan's mom offered to do Thanksgiving since we would be getting in too late to thaw a turkey. When I talked to her last night, she was very smug. Had the whole house decorated for Christmas, the tree up, and the dinner made. "I outsourced," she said. "No one can call me old-fashioned." Dan says this is probably good. She is the most wonderful person in the world, but her career was as an administrator of food services in colleges and then over a whole school system. She hates cooking and is not really... well, I can't bring myself to say it since my children's favorite homecoming meal is one ordered from Pizza Hut. She just called to say the turkey smelled funny. If I don't show up again this week, call 911. There is a houseful of dead bodies rotting in Denton, Texas. CW asked if he could bring an orphan he ran into who was planning on eating at McDonald's alone. I admire his generosity, but expressed some concern about our weird family. He said, "I warned him, and he says he'd like to come anyway"-- now doesn't that make you wonder what he said about us? Does he think he ISN"T weird? Ha. Are you spending the day with good friends? I hope you have a wonderful time and a very good meal. If you like, you can run up here and join us for poisoned turkey. All are welcome.
