I agree. we're on the same page there. I'm most interested in the correlation of mining stocks to the indices, and particular events (ie 9/11, Black Monday and 1929 crash selloffs) vs the POG.

As you say, AEM is a better candidate because the NEM M&A activity adds an additional variable we would like to avoid.

I wonder what other miners traded in 1987? It would be interesting to see if Bigcharts has data and what those charts look like.

When I have a few moments, I'll plug in a few.
