I think that was an excellent lesson as to Why Lynch Mobs are a Bad Idea- no matter how much some people might secretly long for them, wishing (as I think they do) for swifter and more complete justice (a noble wish). Sometimes the things we wish for cannot be found on this Earth, and if we try to find them, we just create Hell on Earth. Humans are so good at created hellishness, it's ironic they aren't very good at creating heavenliness.

"The strength of a nation is judged by the way it treats its animals." (Mahatma Ghandi)

I hope the excitement has died down here a little, Graystone.

I must say I thought that in America people still were considered innocent until proven guilty, and I hope that is not changing, but who knows . . . I hardly recognize this country anymore. Europe and Canada are moving into the future, bravely, with more individual freedoms, sensitivity for a rapidly degrading environment, more compassion in general, tolerance for homosexuals, agricultural legislation that recognizes farm animals as sentient beings who deserve respectful treatment, space to stretch out and play . . . And we are moving backwards into hatred and homophobia.

I could not believe my ears today . . . as I was walking by Fox TV announced a segment coming up on whether to teach science or creationism . . . I don't see how we recover from this, really.
