The UN Charter is not a champion of individual liberties as the Constitution and Bill of Rights is. You misunderstand the nature of law. By an Act of Congress, the United States adheres to the UN Charter, the Geneva Conventions (among many other treaty obligations) and the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Your concern that the UN Charter doesn't address your full roster of civil liberties only indicates your naivete as to how the law works, not that you aren't protected. Indeed, you are, because the UN Charter in no way supercedes the rights that you already had and never lost when the UN Charter was adapted. The civil rights that you have lost are those taken away from you by the malevolent scam called the USA PATRIOT Act, and other malicious and authoritarian legislation emanating from Washington. And most certainly not from the banks of East River where the UN is headquartered. *** I've read enough of your posts to realize that you have a basic misunderstanding about the real threats that Americans face. They are two-fold, in my opinion. One is the imperial thrusting of the neo-cons who've stolen our Fe'ral Government or at least the controlling apparatus for war. And the second is the cruelly heartless and mendacious capitalist system being championed by the likes of the WTO, WB, IMF and their ilk. Both of these forces are fully intending to end the wonderful middle-class experiment called "the American Dream". The "American Dream" is to be replaced with the American Empire and the Great American Middle Class Disemboweling. The UN is responsible for neither of these twin abominations.
