<Gold lower today in CAD than on 1/1/04.>

Good point. Gold is also lower today in NZ$ than when gold was $280 an ounce a few years ago. Gold isn't expensive in NZ$.

NZ$ = US39c Nov 2000 vs US72c now. x-rates.com

Gold price now 2004 US$455 x 39/72 = 2000 US$246 an ounce. Wow, gold has dropped in price in a strong currency. The US$ is puny compared with NZ$.
