Mish, I hope your trip gets better. It sounds like staying home was the more viable alternative.

Wow, better luck next time. I am glad that at least nothing happened to you or your family.

Sorry to hear about your misfortune on the road.

>>So support that US economy and go out and buy those Ford Mustang's and other crap you do not need. It's the patriotic thing to do<<

I made a trip to Staples, OfficeMax, and Best Buy, and the stores were packed. Looks like a lot of "diligent" shoppers were there before 7am<g>

And there was a guest on NPR calling on Americans to take a shop-free day. So I decided to buy nothing and came back empty handed<g>

mish,

Total bummer, at least you are safe.

The Mustang is rear wheel drive. It is going to be terrible in the snow. Not a Michigan car.

But did you like the way it looks?

Have a better holiday.

TH

We were driving a Grand Am(wife's car) but the ability of one Mustang to even come close to being drivavble in those conditions was pathetic.

Muscle cars are usually terrible in the snow.

As someone who lives on the north side of a hill, or the equivalent of "perma winter", with a very steep 1/8 of a mile driveway I can vouch for the Subaru AWD Outback as a great snow car. All my friends who live in the snowy back hills of West Virginia own them. Before I got the Outback it was 10 seconds of sheer terror followed by enormous relief just getting up the driveway with many times that I just couldn't make it, even with a front wheel drive car and forget the truck, it's useless in the snow.

Now I don't worry about the weather short of an ice storm or white out conditions, which no car can handle. There have been many many times I'm tooling down the snow covered highway at an acceptable speed while passing 4 wheel drive SUVs stuck in the median where they veered off the road, drivers on their cell phones, calling for the tow truck. It even comes in handy parking in the city when it snows, while others are driving past spots that have too much snow I'm just plowing right in. The car is so much fun in the snow you find yourself looking for piles of snow to get into.
