"and 51% say sport hunting is always wrong." How did they define "sport hunting"? If you are hunting for food, is it sport hunting just because you enjoy it or is sport hunting limited to hunting for "trophy" specimens or other situations where the animal is not being taken for food? Oh, and is "sport fishing" as "bad" as sport hunting or is that more acceptable because fish aren't as cute? Just wondering. Surveys are very elastic things in their design and interpretation, you know.

When I was doing exploration, I happened on to trap sets two or three times. Needless to say, when I left there, there were no set traps, no traps at all and they would never be used again except for maybe scrap. And a guy that worked for me done the same thing. And one of the traps that we "bagged", I don't remember if it was mine or his, had a leg bone in it. No fur, no flesh, just bone. And we all know how it got left there. :(.. And also evidence they weren't even checked often.. :( I have nothing against wearing fur if it is needed. A diminishing need to say the least, but some indigenous people in the far north or far south maybe still do. And that's okay if needed IMO, but not on Broadway to go to a show. I told you my story about my testifying at a State Fish and Game hearing against trapping or catching little friendly lizards to be "shown off" in aquariums in homes. Besides the imorality of taking something wild and putting them in "prison", the mortality rate before they got to the stores was at least 50% I understand. I imagine the mortality rate in the home after a couple of weeks was over 90% after the people tired of them and/or tired of taking care of them Good news and bad news situation on the hearing. Good news, I helped get the practice slowed down, by limits, permit fees etc. Bad news, we didn't get it stopped. :( But evidence, a person can make a difference.
